with 36 years of crate digging between them, Christian “Kon” Taylor and Amir Abdullah are no strangers to being knee deep in vinyl. While every Tom, Dick, and Harry is peepin’ eBay for Dusty Records 101, we found the pair, better known as Kon & Amir, doing their dirt the old-fashioned way at Beantown’s In Your Ear record shop. “When I started digging, you had to figure stuff out on your own,” says Amir as he sorts the dope from the garbage. “I still feel like I got one up on some of these younger cats just because I’ve been doing it for so long. But I’m still a student.” With their DJ Muro-assisted compilation appropriately titled The Kings of Diggin’, Kon & Amir let us ride shotgun as they do what they do best: dig.
